When SelectReads does not find an item right away in its database, a powerful tool gets to work: the meta data import job. While SelectReads keeps millions of book records in its database, there are still instances where a particular book, film or audio item is not immediately available.
Luckily for our customers, the process of fetching even arcane or brand new data is fully automated - if you add a list of isbn or upc numbers to our bulk upload and hit enter, our backend server will start requesting annotation data for items that we don't already know about.
This process usually just takes a few seconds or minutes but depending on a multitude of factors it could also take longer: it depends on how many people are currently using the system, what kind of item we are looking at (Audio, Music, Book, eBook), how popular those items are and thus how easily accessible they are from our vendor databases, etc. Additionally our meta data import job will retry multiple times to retrieve your requested annotation data in case it does not get any data right away.
So no worries: if you see a bunch of "Loading..." bars at the bottom of your newsletter, they just communicate to you that some of your meta data is in the process of being imported. Once such items are added to the queue, they will run until they find an item (or give up because they can't locate it).
However, these items will never show up in any of your newsletters and just serve the purpose to let the editing staff member know that there is some data being processed in the back. Feel free to hit the delete button next to the progress bar in case you made a mistake or don't need the additional data any longer:
